ProductScribe writes WooCommerce product descriptions, short descriptions, SEO titles, meta descriptions, focus keywords and main-image alt text using your own OpenAI, Anthropic Claude or Google Gemini API key. Nothing is written to a product until you approve it, and every approval can be undone.How it works
- Settings: pick a provider, paste your key, press Test connection. Choose which of the six fields to write, a brand voice (Friendly, Professional, Luxury, Playful, Minimal/technical or your own instructions), one of 15 languages and the description length.
- One product: press Write with AI in the ProductScribe box on the product screen.
- Many products: use the “Write with ProductScribe” bulk action on the Products list, or the Bulk generate screen with category and “missing description” filters. Press Estimate cost first, then Start background writing.
- Review queue: see the current text next to the suggestion, edit it, and approve field by field or in bulk.
Example
A store has 240 products, 90 of them with no long description and no meta description. In Bulk generate you filter by “missing description”, leave “Skip fields that already have content” on, and press Estimate cost: it shows 90 products and the estimated cost with your model (with the default small models that’s usually under a cent per product). You start the run, it works through them in small WP-Cron batches, and the next morning the Review queue has 90 suggestions, each with its SEO checklist score before → after. You fix the two that need a tweak, approve the rest in bulk, and if you change your mind about one, its History restores the old text in one click.Why store owners trust it
- Fact-based prompts: it uses the product name, type, price, SKU, attributes, size, categories, tags and existing text, and is told not to invent specs or claims. Optional “use main image” mode reads the photo for visual details and better alt text.
- Spending control: cost estimate before every bulk run, a monthly spending limit (default $10) and a usage summary.
- SEO plugins: writes into Rankwise SEO Suite or Toolkit, Yoast SEO or Rank Math, with a 10-point on-page checklist score.
- Revision history: the last 10 versions of each product’s fields, restorable in one click.
- Light footprint: no custom tables or extra libraries, HPOS compatible, translation-ready, developer hooks.
- Privacy: no customer or order data is sent, nothing is sent to us, no license check or tracking. Keys can live in wp-config.php.
Changelog:
1.0.3 – Atomic per-product enqueueing with a database lock, so concurrent requests never create duplicate suggestions; busy requests get a clear message; one-time cleanup of existing duplicates.
1.0.2: Single-product and background generation now share one atomic per-item claim with lease renewal, so a product can't be processed twice, and approved suggestions can't be overwritten.
