Quick Install — Plugin Management from WordPress Dashboard

Manage WordPress Plugins Directly from Your Dashboard

Quick Install adds a compact plugin management tool directly to the WordPress Dashboard, helping you search, install, update, upload, activate, deactivate, and remove plugins without repeatedly moving between admin screens.

Key Features

  • Search the WordPress.org plugin directory directly from the dashboard
  • Install and activate plugins without leaving the dashboard
  • Update installed WordPress.org plugins
  • Install or update plugins from ZIP files without a page transition
  • Drag and drop ZIP files for faster uploads
  • Compare installed and uploaded plugin versions before overwriting
  • Detect same-version overwrites and downgrades
  • Check WordPress and PHP compatibility before ZIP installation or update
  • Preserve the active state when updating an active plugin
  • Prevent accidental overwrite when a different plugin uses the same folder name
  • Search installed plugins by name, description, or author
  • Activate or deactivate installed plugins from the dashboard
  • Delete inactive plugins after explicit confirmation
  • Remember the open or closed state of dashboard sections for each user

Multilingual Interface

Quick Install includes interface translations for English, Japanese, German, French, Spanish, Simplified Chinese, and Korean.

Requirements

WordPress: 6.4.4 or later
Tested up to: WordPress 7.1
PHP: 7.4 or later

Multisite

Quick Install is designed for individual site dashboards and does not add its widget to the Network Admin dashboard. When a network-active plugin is updated from a ZIP file through Quick Install, its network-active state is preserved.

Quick Install is designed to make routine WordPress plugin management faster while keeping important confirmation and compatibility checks in place.

Changelog:

Version 1.1.1

  • Simplified the Installed Plugins list by removing icon thumbnails.
  • Simplified delete confirmation to a compact browser confirmation dialog.
  • Adjusted the installed plugin search UI to reduce clipped text in the search field.

Version 1.1.0

  • Added an Installed Plugins section to the dashboard widget.
  • Added local search by plugin name, description, or author.
  • Added activate and deactivate controls for installed plugins.
  • Added deletion of inactive plugins with an explicit confirmation step.
  • Prevented Quick Install from deactivating itself from its own widget.
  • Added translations for the new UI in all 7 supported languages.

Plugins receive full recency points under 30 days, then step down at 90, 180, 365, and 545 days.

Compatibility 20 points

WordPress, PHP, and WooCommerce (when relevant) are scored separately. The latest two PHP lines count as current. Nearby previous versions keep most of the points.
