Yeti Live Draw – Verifiable Live Draws for YetiRaffles
Yeti Live Draw makes your competition draws checkable. When you prepare a draw, the entries are locked and fingerprinted, a commitment to a secret seed is published, and a future round of public randomness from drand (the League of Entropy beacon) is fixed. At draw time that randomness becomes the live seed, the winners are picked, and the secret seed is revealed – so anyone can re-run the draw in their own browser, check the live seed with drand, and get exactly the same winners. Because the drand value doesn’t exist until draw time, once a draw is prepared the site operator can’t predict the winners or choose inputs to produce a particular result. The documentation explains exactly what a verified draw proves and its limits – for example, it verifies the locked entry list rather than your sales records, and cancelled draws are shown publicly rather than prevented. It’s built for live streams: a full-screen animated draw screen with no address bar on show, and back-to-back sessions so you can draw every competition in one stream.

Perfect For

  • Competition and prize draw sites running YetiRaffles
  • Facebook Live, YouTube, TikTok and Zoom draw nights
  • Anyone who gets asked “was that draw rigged?”

Key Features

  • Verifiable Draws – Before every draw, the entries are locked and fingerprinted and a commitment to a secret seed is published. The seed is revealed after the draw so anyone can re-run it.
  • Public Randomness – The live seed comes from drand, a public randomness beacon run by the League of Entropy. Its value for your draw doesn’t exist until draw time, so once a draw is prepared nobody – including the site operator – can predict or choose it.
  • Locked Entries – The ticket list is fixed when the draw is prepared and can be downloaded straight away. If tickets are added or removed afterwards, the draw refuses to run.
  • Anyone Can Verify – A “Verify this draw” button re-runs the draw in the visitor’s own browser, checks the live seed directly with drand, and confirms the winners match.
  • Honest About Its Limits – Cancelled draws stay listed publicly with the time they were cancelled, and draws using a typed-in live seed are clearly labelled as organiser-supplied.
  • Animated Draw Screen – A full-screen number reel that spins and lands on each winner, with confetti at the end. Built for OBS, Facebook Live, Zoom and TikTok streams.
  • No Address Bar On Screen – The draw opens in its own pop-out window, and one click (or the F key) takes it full screen, hiding all browser controls. The cursor hides itself too.
  • Back-to-Back Sessions – Draw several competitions in one live stream from a single screen, with a “Next competition” button between draws.
  • Multiple Winners – Up to 50 winners per competition, revealed one at a time. No ticket can win twice.
  • Privacy Safe – Only ticket numbers and first name plus last initial are ever shown publicly.
  • YetiRaffles Integration – Winners flow straight into YetiRaffles’ draw history, Recent Winners screen and winners gallery, with optional winner emails.
  • Runs Once – Every draw can only be run once, even if the button is pressed twice or the screen is open in two windows.

How It Works

  1. Prepare – close sales, choose a competition, the draw time and the number of winners. The locked entries, commitment and randomness round are published on your results page straight away.
  2. Go live – open the draw screen and go full screen. A countdown shows until drand publishes the randomness for your round.
  3. Draw – the reel spins and reveals each winner, then the secret seed is revealed.
  4. Verify – anyone can click “Verify this draw” on your results page.

Requirements

  • YetiRaffles (installed and active)
  • WordPress 5.8 or higher
  • WooCommerce 6.0 or higher (tested up to 11.2)
  • PHP 7.4 or higher
  • HTTPS for visitors to verify draws in their browser
  • Your server must be able to reach api.drand.sh for public randomness (or use a typed-in live seed)

Changelog:

1.0.5

  • Fixed: the "already sent" fallback record for winner emails is now kept separately for each draw and only written or deleted under that draw's own lock, so draws sending or recovering at the same time can no longer overwrite or delete each other's records and cause a repeat email
  • Improved: records kept by 1.0.3 and 1.0.4 in one shared option are still honoured, and are moved into the per-draw records automatically after updating

1.0.4

  • Fixed: automatic winner email retries now work through every draw with emails pending, 20 at a time, from a saved position. Draws that keep failing can no longer stop newer draws from being emailed: the next batch runs a minute later, and the whole list is tried again every five minutes until nothing is left
  • Fixed: the Live Draw admin list now shows "winner emails not sent yet" and the "Send pending winner emails" button for draws that need them (the list was not loading each draw's email status)
  • Improved: the draw screen loads its stylesheet and script through WordPress, admin output is escaped throughout, and a readme.txt is included. Plugin Check reports no errors or warnings

1.0.3

  • Fixed: the winner email retry and the YetiRaffles history retry are scheduled before the draw result is saved, so if PHP stops at any point after the draw, both are still picked up
  • New: an hourly safety net (yld_safety_net), registered at activation and re-registered on every page load if missing, sends any pending winner emails and syncs any missing history even if a request stopped before scheduling anything
  • Fixed: every save of winner email status is checked by reading it back. If it cannot be saved before an email, the email is not sent and is retried later
  • Fixed: if an email is sent but its status cannot be saved (after 3 tries), it is recorded separately so it is never sent again, sending stops, and the rest are retried automatically
  • New: yld_draw_committed and yld_notification_state_failed actions

1.0.2

  • Fixed: the automatic YetiRaffles history retry now works through every pending draw, 50 at a time, until all are synced - not just the first 50
  • Fixed: winner emails are tracked per winner and saved with the draw result, so if the request is interrupted after the draw, the remaining emails are sent automatically - winners are never recalculated and a winner already emailed is not emailed again
  • New: emails that fail are retried automatically (up to 3 attempts), then shown on the draw with a "Send pending winner emails" button
  • New: yld_retry_notifications scheduled event

1.0.1

  • Fixed: draws prepared by earlier versions, without locked entries and ticket owners, can no longer run - they are marked "Cannot run" and can only be cancelled
  • Fixed: the public results page shows those draws as "Will not run" instead of "Upcoming draw"
  • Fixed: adding winners to the YetiRaffles draw history is checked; failures are flagged, retried automatically every 5 minutes and can be retried with "Sync to YetiRaffles"
  • New: history sync is idempotent - it uses the saved winners only, never picks new winners or re-sends emails, and never adds a draw twice
  • New: yld_history_synced and yld_history_sync_failed actions
