Hey, Szabi here, you might know me as the guy behind CodeRevolution, with plugins like Aiomatic, Newsomatic, and a bunch of other tools I’ve coded over many sleepless nights. Alongside me is Stefan, the brilliant mind behind WebWizardsDev, a developer I deeply respect, and now my co-founder on this crazy ride.
Together, we built WPBay – not because we wanted to, but because we had to.
We didn’t set out to create a marketplace. We set out to fix a broken one.
Why WPBay Exists (And Why We Couldn’t Ignore the Problem)
Let’s rewind for a second. I joined CodeCanyon back in 2016. Stefan joined in 2020. We were excited. It felt like a golden opportunity – finally, a platform that connected our products with real customers around the world. And it worked. For a while.
But over time, things started to shift. Support dropped. Sales became unpredictable. And then came Envato Elements, a one-size-fits-all buffet of digital content that made zero sense for plugins that require updates, support, and constant iteration.
Then came the corporate dominoes: Envato got acquired by Shutterstock, and not long after, Shutterstock was swallowed by Getty.
We went from indie devs building cool stuff to being cogs in a faceless machine that didn’t understand what WordPress development even meant.
We saw it coming – and we weren’t alone.
Sales tanked. Morale dropped. Communication from Envato? Crickets. Developers were burning out. Customers were confused. And innovation was getting crushed under generic subscription models.
So We Asked Ourselves a Simple Question:
What if we built the marketplace we always wanted?
No corporate bloat. No buffet-style nonsense. Just a place where serious WordPress developers could build, sell, support, and grow their products – on their own terms.
That’s how WPBay was born.
What Makes WPBay Different?
This isn’t just another store. We designed WPBay from the ground up for people like us. Every single feature was born out of a real pain point we hit while running our own plugin businesses.
🎯 Product-Centric Subscriptions
No “grab-everything” plans. Subscriptions on WPBay are tied to individual products. That means if a customer wants your plugin – for updates, support, and features – they subscribe to that plugin. You get rewarded fairly for the value you bring.
💰 Real Revenue Models
Sell however you want:
- One-time purchases
- Monthly or yearly subscriptions
- Free trials
- Bundles
We’re not here to tell you how to run your business. That’s your call.
🔁 Seamless Licensing & Updates
We built our own PHP SDK – the same one we use ourselves. Push updates directly. Handle licensing automatically. No extra tools needed.
🧰 A Full Toolkit for Plugin Businesses
From day one, WPBay gives you:
- Built-in or bring-your-own support tools
- VAT-compliant invoicing and tax handling
- Affiliate system and promotion boosts
- Sandboxed demos
- Transparent, fast payouts
📊 Analytics, Roadmaps, and More
We integrated the tools you actually need to build a real product business – changelogs, performance tracking, customer feedback systems, and public roadmaps – all in one place.
We’re Building More Than a Marketplace – We’re Building a Movement
The platforms we relied on let us down. They sold us a dream, then handed it off to a boardroom full of suits.
So we decided to build a space where developers talk directly to their customers. Where creators don’t have to beg for visibility. Where great plugins aren’t buried under a sea of disposable junk.
And we’re making it fun, too. WPBay has gamified seller accounts – unlock badges, level up your trust score, and climb the rankings. You’re not just uploading a product – you’re building a reputation.
Our Vision
We believe in a world where:
- Developers are treated like partners, not content providers.
- Customers know exactly what they’re buying (and why it matters).
- WordPress creators can grow sustainable businesses without giving up control.
- Marketplaces work with developers – not against them.
At WPBay, we’re not middlemen. We’re developers, just like you.
And we’re building the platform we wish existed back when we launched our first plugins.
Let’s Take WordPress Back – Together
If you’ve felt the frustration of falling sales, rigid platforms, and tone-deaf policies… we’re with you.
If you’re tired of being forced into buffet models that devalue your work… we get it.
Whether you’re just getting started, or you’ve been in the game for years – WPBay is your home.
Upload your plugin. Define your terms. Build your brand.
We’ll take care of the rest.
WPBay – Turning Code into Commerce. On Your Terms.
