WPBay is committed to complying with international tax regulations and ensuring transparency in how taxes such as VAT, GST, and sales tax are applied. This policy outlines how taxes are handled for both buyers and sellers using the platform.
Buyers
Applicable taxes are calculated at checkout based on your billing address and the type of product being purchased. WPBay charges VAT to customers located in the European Union, and may collect other regional taxes where required by law (e.g. GST in Australia or sales tax in select U.S. states).
- VAT in the EU: VAT is automatically applied based on your country. If you are a VAT-registered business, you can enter your valid VAT ID at checkout to reverse the charge (in accordance with the reverse charge mechanism).
- Other Jurisdictions: For countries or states that require WPBay to collect tax, the appropriate rate will be applied at checkout.
- Digital Products: All items sold on WPBay are considered digital products and are taxed accordingly under regional digital goods regulations.
You will see a detailed breakdown of any taxes applied on your invoice and email receipt.
Sellers
Sellers on WPBay are not responsible for collecting or remitting taxes from buyers. WPBay acts as the merchant of record and handles tax collection and remittance on all qualifying transactions. The gross amount earned by the seller is after tax deductions, where applicable.
- EU VAT and Similar Taxes: These are collected from the buyer and handled by WPBay. Sellers do not need to remit VAT on WPBay sales.
- Invoices and Reporting: Sellers can view their gross and net earnings in their WPBay dashboard, along with monthly sales reports for accounting purposes.
Please note that sellers are responsible for reporting their WPBay income to their local tax authorities. WPBay does not provide personal tax advice, and we recommend consulting a qualified accountant or tax professional for guidance based on your location.
