1. How WPBay Works

WPBay operates as a reseller platform. This means WPBay, not individual developers, is the official seller of record for all transactions. Buyers purchase directly from WPBay, and we later distribute earnings to developers based on their sales.

This structure allows WPBay to:

  1. Offer a unified buying experience
  2. Handle VAT compliance for EU customers
  3. Absorb payment processing and payout fees
  4. Maintain higher standards for customer protection

As a seller, you’ll still set your own prices, update your own products, and manage your support, but you won’t be the direct party to the sale from a legal or financial standpoint.

Buyers receive receipts and invoices from WPBay, while your product is attributed and credited to you as the creator and developer.

How to join WPBay as a seller?

  1. Create a Seller Account
    • Sign up for a WPBay Seller Account (free to join) using the form from above.
    • Complete your profile with personal or company information, payment details, and tax information (if required). Be sure to follow the regulations of your country of residence when filling out details.
  2. Submit Your Product
    • Upload your WordPress plugin or theme files.
    • Provide a detailed product page description, documentation, and screenshots.
    • Choose your product pricing (free or paid) and any promotional discounts.
    • If your product is using the WPBay SDK, follow the SDK Integration Documentation.
  3. Quality Review
    • Our review team will test your product for quality, security, and compliance with WPBay Submission Guidelines.
    • If approved, your product listing goes live on WPBay.
    • If changes are needed, you will receive feedback on how to improve your product.
  4. Start Selling
    • Once live, users can find and purchase your product.
    • You’ll have access to sales data, customer feedback, and review metrics in your seller dashboard.

2. Earnings Calculation

Depending on your location and your customers’ locations, WPBay may be required to collect taxes (e.g., VAT, sales tax). You do not need to worry about this — taxes are handled automatically by WPBay.

As WPBay is the seller of record, we collect and remit VAT on behalf of EU buyers and handle all international digital sales tax obligations. These taxes are added on top of the product price and do not impact your earnings.

We want to make sure our sellers earn fair compensation for their hard work. Here’s how we break down earnings:

  1. Base Commission Rate & Tiered Commission Structure
    • WPBay charges a commission on every sale, which covers transaction fees, marketing, and operational costs.

    • Our base commission rate for new sellers is 30% of the sale price of products. This commission will be lowered based on your seller account’s total sales. To reward your commitment to WPBay, you can lower your marketplace commission a total of 4 times. The minimum commission will take effect after you reach and surpass 50,000$ in total sales and will be 12%.Note that this commission will cover any order processing costs (promotional and marketing costs, payment gateway fees, handling fees, infrastructural costs, legal fees). Neither you, nor the client will not be charged for any of these costs, they are fully covered by WPBay.Note that if the order was sold with the help of an affiliate referral, an additional 25% will be deducted from your earnings for that specific order. This amount will be credited directly to affiliates. As WPBay has a tiered affiliate system, if the sale was generated by a tiered affiliate, the affiliate commission will be 30% (25% credited to the level 1 affiliate and 5% credited to the level 2 affiliate). If the order was sold in an organic way, by your referral or by WPBay’s marketing efforts, no additional costs will be deducted from you.

  2. Product Pricing
    • You set the base price for your product.
    • WPBay’s commission is deducted from the total sale amount (before taxes).
  3. Taxes and VAT
    • Depending on your location and your customers’ locations, WPBay may be required to collect taxes (e.g., VAT, sales tax). You do no need to worry about this, taxes are handled automatically by WPBay.
    • WPBay will automatically handle tax calculations at checkout.
    • Any applicable taxes are added on top of the base price.
  4. Additional Services
    • If you offer custom support packages or license renewals, WPBay charges the same commission rate on those add-ons.

Example Earnings Calculation

Suppose you are a level 1 seller (with 0$ sold on WPBay) and sell a theme priced at $50.

  • Base price: $50
  • WPBay commission (30%): $15
  • Your earnings: $35

Now, we suppose you are a level 5 seller (with over 50,000$ sold on WPBay) and sell a theme priced at $50.

  • Base price: $50
  • WPBay commission (12%): $6
  • Your earnings: $44

3. Payouts

Payment Schedule
WPBay processes payouts manually, based on withdrawal requests submitted by sellers.

Sellers must log in to their dashboard and request a payout when they meet the minimum payout threshold. We do not offer automatic or recurring payouts at this time.

Clearing Period
WPBay does not currently enforce a clearing period. Once a sale is made and there are no refund disputes or flags, the funds are eligible for withdrawal.

We know how important timely payments are. WPBay supports multiple payout methods so you can choose the one that best suits your needs.

    • PayPal: Our most popular option for worldwide sellers.
    • Skrill: Recommended if PayPal is not easily accessible in your region.
  2. Payment Schedule
    • Payouts are processed manually, on your request, for all earnings from your account.
  3. Clearing Period
    • WPBay does not currently enforce any clearing period for sales.
  4. Minimum Payout Threshold
    • The minimum payout amount is $50 (or equivalent in other currencies).
    • If you do not meet the threshold, your earnings will roll over to the next month.
  5. Fees and Charges
    • WPBay covers payout fees, you don’t need to worry about these either.

4. WPBay’s Role in Transactions

WPBay acts as the legal seller and payment processor for all items sold on the platform. Developers upload their plugins or themes to be resold by WPBay under a licensing agreement.

This structure ensures:

  1. Simpler international compliance, including VAT
  2. Better buyer trust and centralized invoicing
  3. Unified checkout and tax handling

All earnings from sales are held by WPBay until a withdrawal is requested by the seller. WPBay does not function as a marketplace facilitator or intermediary platform. Instead, we purchase your plugin or theme license from you and resell it to the end customer.

Once your product is live, you have full control over updates, support, and marketing:

    • View real-time sales data, conversion rates, and product performance.

  2. Product Updates
    • Easily upload new versions of your product to address bug fixes or add features.
    • WPBay notifies all existing customers when an update is available.
  3. Support & License Management
    • For recurring payment products, our support policy states that products are supported by sellers for the entire time the product subscription is active. For one time payment products, you can select the amount of time you want to offer support to customers. We recommend a period between 6 and 12 months. If you want, you can go also with lifetime support.
    • Manage license activations and deactivations (if you use license keys).

Gateway Fees Covered by WPBay

WPBay covers standard payment gateway processing fees on all customer purchases made through the platform. This helps ensure sellers receive their earnings without unexpected deductions related to transaction processing.

Refund and Seller Account Review Policy

While WPBay handles refunds in accordance with our Refund Policy, excessive refund rates (significantly higher than average across the marketplace) may indicate product quality or support issues. If your refund rate exceeds an acceptable threshold, WPBay reserves the right to review your account. In severe cases, WPBay may suspend or permanently discontinue your seller account to protect buyers and the platform’s overall reputation. Sellers will be notified and given an opportunity to address concerns before any action is taken.

Withdrawal Fee

When requesting a payout, there will be no withdrawal fees applied to your payout, WPBay will cover these also. You will get the full amount of money you earned.

Seller Responsibility

As a seller, you are responsible for:

  1. Adhering to WPBay’s Submission Guidelines and Marketplace Policies.
  2. Ensuring your products meet quality and security standards.
  3. Providing timely customer support (if advertised).
  4. Complying with tax laws applicable in your region.

8. Selling Exclusivity

Selling Exclusively

Selling exclusive with WPBay is defined on an item to item basis. This means that you agree to sell that individual item or product only on wpbay.com.

Selling Non-Exclusive

Selling non-exclusive means that you can sell that individual item or product on any other website that you want. You will not get any kind of “penalties” if you are a non-exclusive seller. We only ask you to not sell the same product at a cheaper price, in other places.

9. Prohibited Activities

By selling with WPBay, you agree to not do any of the following:

Uploaded content on the WPBay Website that is copyrighted, protected by trade secret or otherwise subject to any third-party intellectual property rights or proprietary rights, including any privacy and publicity rights, unless you are the owner of such rights or have written permission from the rightful owner of such rights to post such content and to grant WPBay a reseller license therein;

Upload, post, email or otherwise transmit any submissions or other content that is unlawful, harmful, threatening, abusive, harassing, degrading, tortious, libelous, slanderous or otherwise defamatory, vulgar, obscene, pornographic, invasive of another’s privacy, hateful, or racially, ethnically or otherwise objectionable;

Use the WPBay Website to harm minors in any way;

Impersonate any person or entity, or falsely state or otherwise misrepresent your affiliation with a person or entity;

Upload, post, email, or otherwise transmit any unsolicited or unauthorized advertising, promotional materials, “junk mail”, “spam”, “chain letters”, “pyramid schemes,” or any other form of solicitation;

Upload, post, email, or otherwise transmit any content that contains computer viruses or any other computer code, files, scripts, macros, or programs designed to alter, interrupt, destroy, or limit the operation of, or infiltrate any computer software, hardware, or computer systems or any data run through such computer system;
