Public Results & Verifying
Publishing draws and letting anyone check them
The Shortcode
| Shortcode | Shows |
|---|---|
[yeti_draw_results] | Upcoming draws (with their commitments) and recent completed draws |
[yeti_draw_results competition="123"] | Draws for one competition |
[yeti_draw_results draw="45"] | One draw |
[yeti_draw_results limit="20"] | More draws (default 10 of each) |
Links from the admin and winner emails open the chosen results page with ?yld_draw=ID, which shows just that draw.
What Each Draw Shows
- Before the draw: when it was prepared, the commitment, the locked entry count and fingerprint, and the drand round that will be used (and when it is published)
- Download entries - a CSV of every ticket number in the draw, available as soon as the draw is prepared so entrants can check their tickets are included
- Cancelled draws stay listed with when they were cancelled, and say if this happened after the randomness was published - so a published draw never disappears
- After the draw: winners, the revealed secret seed and the live seed
- Verify this draw - re-runs the draw in the visitor's browser, checks the live seed directly with drand, and shows a clear pass or fail
- Draws using a typed-in live seed are labelled "Typed in by the organiser", and their verification message says what that can't prove
Privacy
Only ticket numbers and a winner's first name and last initial (e.g. "Jane S.") are ever shown publicly. Emails, full names and other ticket holders' details stay private. The secret seed for a draw that hasn't happened yet is never published.
