Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to common questions about YetiAware
General Questions
What is YetiAware?
A safer gambling and responsible play toolkit for WooCommerce: spend limits, cooling-off, self-exclusion, an 18+ checkout confirmation, admin customer lookup and a full audit trail.
Do I need YetiRaffles?
No. YetiAware works with any WooCommerce store. It's designed with YetiRaffles in mind, so spending paid with YetiRaffles wallet credit counts towards limits.
Do customers need an account?
Yes, and YetiAware enforces it. While YetiAware is enabled, guest checkout is switched off, so every order is placed by a logged-in customer (an account is created at checkout if needed). A restricted customer can't log out and check out as a guest using the same email.
Can a restricted customer get around it with a new account?
Only by registering with a different email address, which no WooCommerce plugin can fully prevent. If you suspect this, check the new account in Customer Lookup and apply your own business process.
Does it support the Blocks checkout and HPOS?
Yes, both.
Is it compliant with UK Gambling Commission rules?
YetiAware follows common UK safer gambling practice, but it isn't legal advice. You're responsible for checking your setup meets your own legal and licensing obligations.
Limits & Breaks
Why can customers lower a limit instantly but not raise it?
Making a customer safer should never be delayed. Loosening their protection needs an email confirmation and a waiting period, so it can't be done on impulse or by someone else using their account.
Can a customer cancel a cooling-off period?
No. It expires on its own.
Does self-exclusion end automatically?
No. After the minimum term the customer has to ask to end it, confirm by email and wait out the reflection period. Permanent self-exclusion can only be ended by an admin.
Can I set limits for a customer?
Not in this version. Limits are set by customers themselves. Admins can view them in Customer Lookup.
Can I change the cooling-off or self-exclusion lengths?
Not from the settings in this version. The waiting periods for loosening limits and ending self-exclusion can be changed in Timing Rules.
A customer has self-excluded but wants to keep buying. Can I let them?
You can end a restriction from Customer Lookup, but self-exclusion exists to protect vulnerable customers. Only do so in genuine cases and record a clear reason.
Data & Privacy
What data does YetiAware store?
Each customer's limits, breaks (with any reason they gave) and an audit log of actions, with IP addresses where available. It's stored in your WordPress database and never sent anywhere else.
What happens to the data if I deactivate the plugin?
It's kept, so everything is still there if you reactivate.
